Biographie

Hala Schoukair propose un langage organic et vivant, exploré de longue date par la tradition de l’art oriental. Une manière d’épuiser un sujet d’y revenir, de l’approfondir avec une répétition sans limites du même motif qui nous trouble sur la nature picturale ou organique de la surface. Son approche "atemporelle" lui permet de se démarquer de l’univers plus "moderniste" de sa mère. En résulte pour chaque tableau dans sa propre originalité de formes, de couleurs et de sensations, un travail sensible et raffiné, très profond. Nous y voyons une véritable grammaire du'motif' assez fascinante. Ainsi qu'un rapport d’échelle entre l’infiniment petit et l’infiniment grand, une dimension proche de la recherche du nombre d’or et de la proportion parfaite. La texture et la densité même de son art, permet d'osciller entre abstraction et figuration. C’est là toute l’innovation plastique de notre artiste que de nous proposer, via de simples expérimentations formelles, une réflexion cosmogonique sur notre nature et la nature du monde, le tout avec une ambition esthétique tout à fait convaincante.

Biography

Hala Schoukair offers a vibrant framework of organic shapes, as long explored in traditional Middle Eastern art. She expands, revisits, and deepens this theme through the infinite repetition of a single motif, which has an unsettling effect on us about the painterly or organic nature of the picture plane. Her timeless approach differentiates her art from her mother's more modernistic universe. Each painting, with its unique shapes, colors and sensations, emerges from a very sensitive and elaborate effort with great depth. A fascinating structural system can be discerned that is based on a given work’s motif. As well as a proportional relationship between the infinitely small and the infinitely vast, an aspect akin to the search for golden ratios and perfect proportions. The structure and intensity of her art makes it oscillate between abstraction and figuration. This is our artist's great artistic innovation: Halal Schoukair offers, through simple formal experimentations, a cosmological reflection on our nature and the nature of the world with great aesthetic ambition!
